Are your cabins on the water?
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintains Lake Whitney as a flood control lake. In a flood situation, its water level can rise to 40 feet over normal pool. Therefore, no cabins are located near the edge of the water. Our cabins are about 650 feet from the river.
on the lake?
Indian Lodge Resort is located at the north end of Lake Whitney, on the Brazos River. The main portion of the lake is located 10 miles downstream. The river is also navigable about 15 miles upstream, depending on water levels.
The original cabins were built in 1953, completely remodeled in 1995 and are diligently maintained and updated. They offer many amenities, such as air conditioning, digital color televisions, modern appliances, and outdoor BBQ grills. However, there are no ovens in any of the cabins, with the exception of suite #8 and cabins #14 & #15. Cabins #14 and #15 were built in 2002 and Suite #8 was completed in 2007.
