Are your cabins on the water?
The U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers maintains Lake Whitney as a flood control
lake. In a flood situation, its water level can rise to 40
feet over normal pool. Therefore, no cabins are located near
the edge of the water. Our cabins are about 650 feet from the
river.
Are you
on the lake?
Indian Lodge Resort is located at the north end of Lake Whitney, on
the Brazos River. The main portion of the lake is located 10
miles downstream. The river is also navigable about 15 miles
upstream, depending on water levels.
Are the
cabins nice?
The
original cabins were built in 1953, completely remodeled in 1995 and
are diligently maintained and updated. They offer many
amenities, such as air conditioning, digital color televisions,
modern appliances, and outdoor BBQ grills. However,
there are no ovens in any of the cabins, with the exception of
suite #8 and cabins #14 & #15. Cabins #14 and #15 were built
in 2002 and Suite #8 was completed in 2007.
Are
there phones in the rooms?
No. Most of our guests agree that a break from the outside
world, including the constant ringing of phones, is a welcome
respite. Many cell phones work with limited success. The
office will accept emergency messages and deliver them in a timely
manner.
Is
there a place to fish?
Guests of the lodge may fish from the covered fishing dock or from
the bank. Guests bringing a boat may launch at our concrete
launch ramp and enjoy excellent fishing in the Brazos and Nolan
Rivers, as well as Lake Whitney.
Is
cable or satellite tv available?
No. The televisions in the rooms receive all of the local
Dallas/Fort Worth digital channels. The televisions have DVD
players and audio/video connections. In addition, most of our guests
prefer to enjoy the beautiful and serene outdoors when visiting
Indian Lodge Resort.
When is
check-in and check-out time?
Check-in time is 4:00 pm and check-out is by 2:00 pm. Early
check-in and late check-out may be available for a small fee.
Call on the day of arrival for availability.
Is smoking allowed?
All of our cabins and rooms are now non-smoking. Guests who smoke are required to do so outside.
Are pets
allowed?
Although guests are not encouraged to bring their pets, they are
allowed for a $10 fee per day per pet. Pets must be on a leash
when out on the grounds, may not be left unattended in the rooms
unless in a crate or kennel and must be picked up after. Pets are
not allowed in suite #8 or cabins #14 or #15.
Are
groceries available nearby?
Indian Lodge store has a variety of staple groceries, along with
bait and tackle and some Indian Lodge souvenir clothing items.
Some fresh meat and vegetable products can be purchased at the
Trading Post convenience store, located two miles away. Beer
and tobacco products are also available at the Trading Post.
Larger grocery stores are located in Rio Vista, 12 miles north on
Hwy. 174 and Cleburne, 17 miles north.
Can we
invite guests to join us?
Any person visiting this resort, regardless of length of stay, must
be registered with the office. The fee for day guests is $5
for all persons age 3 and over. All day guests must leave by
10:00 PM, or they will be charged as overnight guests. A $20
fee is required for additional overnight guests, with a maximum of
two extra people per room.
May we bring our 4-wheelers/scooters/dirt bikes?
Off-road motorized vehicles are not allowed on Indian Lodge property. Please leave them at home and enjoy the quiet serenity of the lodge area. You are encouraged to bring your bicycle, your horse or your hiking shoes to take advantage of the hiking/biking/equestrian trails.
